SAT materials are here.

Usually when a package comes in the mail i get quite exicted. But not this time. In the mail came 2 large textbooks and a practice test book with 4 answer sheets for my Princeton Review class that starts in November. Of course I hate that it came in the mail. I don't even know how this class will play out, and quite frankly I don't want it. But I have to for the sake of my dad, my college, my scores, and for future studies. So this is the start.

Microsoft Surface 2 Review

Let me start by saying that this tablet is for the working community. And that it wishes to compete against Apple's iPad 4 rather than the new iPad Air. Honestly, Microsoft chose the wrong time to release the device. The Surface 2 runs the new Windows 8.1 RT version and the Surface Pro 2 runs Win RT Pro 8.1. Now this new Surface looks very much like the previous model and can be hard to tell the difference. But the new device is thinner than the old one. It has a 10.6" screen with a great HD screen with the resolution of 1920x1080. The screen is durable and supports 5 point multi-touch. It comes in silver, while the Pro 2 comes in grey. And it fits perfectly in your hands. The edges are tilted away from you and have a nice feel in the hands. But you will most likely be placing it on a desk or on your lap with the new adjustable built-in kickstand. The Surface 2 runs NVIDIA Tegra 4 1.7 Quad-Core, which is very fast. And it has a 2GB RAM with either 32GB or 64GB storage capacity. It also has the standard Bluetooth 4.0 & 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi capabilities. Microsoft says that it should give you 10 hrs. of video playback, and 7-15 days of idle stand-by time. Charging should take about 2-4 hours. On the physical aspect, the Surface 2 has the kickstand on the back, the volume rocker and power button on the top, has speakers on either side, and has a USB 3.0 slot, microSD card reader, a 3.5mm audio jack, a HD out port, and a magnetic port to attach the special covers. And of course it has an ambient light sensor, and accelorometer, a gyroscope, and a magnetometer. You can get the old Touch and Type Covers on microsoft.com, but you can also get the new Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2, which are thinner, more responsive, and back-lit. The Surface 2 can also be used with a special Surface Music Kit and a Power Cover that is coming soon in early 2014. And you can also get either one or the other type of mouse that is offered. And you can get sleeves, power cords, docks, and adapters. Now Microsoft advertises Office 2013 RT and Skype. Skype shouldn't be a problem with the 5MP camera and the 3.5MP front-facing camera. And you also have loud Dolby speakers. The set is complete with a Skype offer of 1-yr. world calling to over 60 countries and a SkyDrive offer of 200GB for 2yrs. + free Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote Web Apps. But this computer, sorry, tablet is better for students since there isn't much other to do than Office, Skype, and the Internet Explorer. Of course you can download programs, but you only have a maximum of 64GB. And the store is not filled with variety. So this "box" is probably best for students or for everyday use. Just remember, even if it looks like a laptop, it is just a very powerful tablet, priced at $449.00 or $549.00. And if you really need power, then you can opt for the Surface Pro 2 starting at $899.00.
